BC Transit is pleased to provide this letter of recommendation to Newman Architectural Products.
Early this year, Newman Architectural Products was retained by BC Transit to install solar screens predominately on the south side of two (2) office buildings (Burnaby and Oakridge Transit Centres). The reason to install the screens was to reduce and control the amount of solar heat entering the building.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the use of Koolshade Solar Screens on our office building.
Our office is approximately 6,000 square feet, and of sides exposed to sun about 60% of wall area consists of windows. The office was constructed in 1965 and plans called for Koolshade Solar Screens on west and south sides of the building. These solar screens have been in service for 23 years and have been totally maintenance free. Last year it was decided to install Koolshade Solar Screening on the east side of the office. After careful consideration, "Koolshade Solar Screen" was selected. The advantages of "Koolshade" are threefold. It has reduced our cooling load, made our occupants more comfortable and actually improved the exterior appearance of our office.
I would highly recommend "Koolshade". It's difficult to argue with worker comfort and 23 years of zero maintenance.
